Amazon, the number one online store, is looking to set up its second headquarters in the United States. It has shortlisted 20 metropolitan areas for HQ2 and Los Angeles is one of them.
Amazon said that it had received 238 applications from various locations. It had shortlisted the 238 to 20 important locations. It will look out for the feasibility in each of these locations in the metropolitan areas. The online retail giant will make a decision on where the next headquarters will be by the end of this year.
Holly Sullivan of the Amazon Public policy said that it was really tough to shortlist 20 areas from a list of 238. All the proposals Amazon received were filled with creativity and enthusiasm. The company got to learn about the communities in North America through this process.
The Amazon HQ2 will not be a satellite office, but would be a complete headquarters. Hence, the stakes are high. The location n that bags the deal will gain 50,000 jobs with an attractive salary package.
Amazon has said that it is looking for a metropolitan area with over 1 million people, great location, and a business-friendly place to house its second headquarters. Los Angeles is the only city on the West Coast to get to the shortlist.
